Children's Resale and Thrift May Go Under...

Something I just found out about recently that I wanted to share with everyone:

A new law HR 4040 will take effect on Feb. 10. Essentially, this law makes any children's product that has not been specifically tested for lead levels a "federally hazardous substance" and makes it illegal to sell the items.

There are many businesses, including Red Rover, that will be greatly affected by this law if an amendment is not added - other childrens consignment shops, thrift stores, Christian Services, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and others will not be able to sell children's clothes or toys, and we will not be able to donate items to organizations.

The businesses and charities lose income, the shopper is no longer able to shop for affordable items and the the donor loses that tax deduction. Individuals that sell handmade items such as wooden toys, children's clothes, blankets and hair accessories will be out of business on February 10.

I'm still researching how this will directly affect Red Rover. Please stay tuned.

Comments and information are encouraged! I'd love to hear what everyone thinks...
